5 Essential Elements for Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour is the first introduction your guests have to your wedding reception celebration and sets the tone for the evening. So while you’re busy taking your first pictures as a newlywed couple, it’s important to ensure your guests are enjoying themselves and starting the party in style. Below are my five essential items to include in every cocktail hour.
1. Photo Booth Fun
A photo booth with a sparkly backdrop is a great way to dress up your cocktail area and provide a place for your guests to have fun and let loose.
2. Guest Book
Not sure what to do for a guestbook? Create a photo album with your engagement photos! Make sure to leave white space so your guests can find an easy spot to write you a note. This serves as a double keepsake and one you’ll be sure to treasure in the years to come.
3. Personalized Napkins
Personalized cocktail napkins add a nice touch to cocktail hour. I recommend ordering 5 to 7 napkins per guest. You’ll have plenty for cocktails and have some left to take home and use later when you have guests over for dinner (using your new china that you registered for, of course!).
4. Specialty Cocktails
Specialty cocktails are a great way to infuse your personality into the wedding. Elise & Mike served spiked sweet tea in mini mason jars as a nod to their love of the South. You can also create a tasting bar with your favorite liquor, complete with notes on the different varieties. This would work for a wine bar as well if that’s more your style.
5. Classic Must-Haves
Cocktail hour is the perfect time to treat your guests with a glass of Veuve! Glasses of champagne can double as escort cards when you attach a customized disc with their names and table numbers to the edge.
Live strings are classic during cocktail hour. It provides beautiful background sound while allowing guests to mingle and visit without interruption.
Cheers to a wonderful beginning!
